Kim Diamond is an award-winning quilter, established Statler longarm owner, teacher and business woman. Launching her career in 1998, Kim founded the quilt company Sweet Dreams Quilt Studio where she primarily quilted for others. After struggling to find patterns for her own clients, she became one of the first computer designers in the longarm industry to begin creating and implementing pattern drawings via the Statler Stitcher. Since the launch of her designing, Kim has taken her company to the international level and has traveled and taught worldwide.

She has become one of the leading pattern designers in the industry and with a passion for learning and teaching was instrumental in starting and leading the SUGAR conference which is the first training intensive conference of its kind specific to Statler users. Kim also started the Certified Training program with Paul Statler and has implemented and written the training program exclusive to Statler Stitcher. In 20 years, her business has developed and grown to new heights all while teaching others innovative ways to make the most of their Statler.

In 2011 Kim joined forces with Jo Ann Blade for making show quilts.  Their show quilts have won numerous awards, been featured in Magazines and on TV shows.  All their show quilts are created 100% using a Statler Stitcher.  Kim and Jo Ann are known for their applique techniques.

In 2015 Kim and Jo Ann were approached by Mary Kerr to quilt a quilt for her upcoming book called “Twisted:  Modern Quilts with a Vintage Twist.”  We said applique was our thing.  Could we use old applique quilt blocks and create a new quilt by appliqueing with them.  Dahlias in the Snow was the quilt that Kim and Jo Ann created.  It is in the book and currently traveling in the Twisted Exhibition.

In 2016 Kim and Jo Ann traveled to Brisbane and Melbourne Australia to team teach Statler users about applique on the Statler.  They had so much fun they have begun team teaching more and more.

Jo Ann Blade is an award winning longarm quilter.  She has been a Certified Trainer for Statler Stitcher since the program was first instituted. She is also a Bernina embroidery software instructor.

Jo Ann has combined her knowledge of the computerized longarms with the knowledge of applique and has made some amazing quilts.

Jo Ann began teaching how to applique using your longarm quilt machine over nine years ago.   She is a knowledgeable and enthusiastic teacher. Seven years ago, Jo Ann and Kimberlee Diamond joined forces.  Their collaborative show quilts have won them many awards. All of these quilts were 100% appliqued on a computerized longarm quilting machine. (American Woman, Bell Star, Serengeti, Lorikeet, and Amelia)

Their quilts have been in magazines, on covers and in fliers for quilt shows and TV shows as well.

In 2015, Jo Ann and Kim were asked to create a quilt in Mary W. Kerr’s book, “Twisted”.  JoAnn and Kim used old appliqued quilt blocks and created a quilt called Dahlias in the Snow.  The quilt is currently traveling with Mary’s Twisted Exhibit.

Jo Ann lives in Sedro Woolley, WA where she lives near her children, grand-children and assorted critters.

Friday evening Helen Robinson from Sew Kind of Wonderful will be having a trunk show!  .

                                                         2 Day Class info:

Revitalize your Creative Soul using Applique on your Statler
Stitcher in this 2-day Class with Kim Diamond & JoAnn Blade.

Kim and JoAnn are going to teach, demo, and
explain about all the “thinks” you can imagine using applique on your Statler Stitcher to revitalize your Creative      Soul.  All Longarmers have a Creative Soul. Kim & JoAnn want you to spend 2 full days thinking outside the normal quilting box and concentrate on that
creative side that needs to be nourished now and then. But don’t worry, we’ll be giving a lot of information that you can use in your regular quilting business as well.

We are going to begin at the beginning and show you how to add applique

in it’s simplest form to enhance your quilting. How about putting names on quilts? How about adding tactile elements to baby quilts? How about adding fuzzy footballs to a quilt for a teenage boy? Putting your favorite team’s name on your quilt? Yep, we will demo all those for you and you’ll be ready to add some simple applique to your quilts.  We will demo E2E quilting, some E2E concatenating and dropping in blocks via boundaries.  Once we have the basics in hand we are going to move on to layered applique. We will begin with a cute baby quilt using minkie and fleece. We will be using Sweet Dream Quilt Studio applique patterns
and learn to follow a stitch map.
Once we master the basics of layered applique
the fun really starts. We’ll spend some time
showing you how to take apart an existing
pantograph pattern and make it into a Baltimore
album style Block. We will use divide, draw,
circular array, and many other functions. We will
show you how to make a custom tool bar for

We’ll show you how to create beautiful floral
applique blocks that include all the quilting. We will
show you how to use fusible for this method with a
discussion about the different kinds of fusible and
when to use what. We will also have a conversation
about threads and what kind to use as well as what
batting to use for what effect.
And finally, Kim and JoAnn are known for their
extravagant appliqued show quilts. Not only
will they show you their show quilts, they are
going to share the techniques used to create
the quilt called “Amelia”. Amelia uses some
very advanced techniques including reverse
applique, concatenating point to point and
relocating to applique a piece that is larger
than 1 belly bar.Kim and JoAnn will bring samples of some of the other
things you can make on your Statler and that you can
embellish with applique. Oh, what “thinks” we can
dream of!

Kim and JoAnn will provide you with extensive handouts so that you’ll be able to
take home the information that is presented in class. We will give you lists of our
favorite supplies as well as handouts for all the techniques.

Friday evening Helen Robinson from Sew Kind of Wonderful will be having a trunk show!  .
