                                 Fabulous Foundation Paper Piecing

 In this workshop, the students will learn the following:

  • The techniques for labeling and cutting out their templates. 
  • How to place the templates on the fabric grain & cutting out the fabric pieces using the templates. 
  • How to sew the fabric pieces together using the Foundation Papers 
  • How to correctly trim & press the sewn seams. 
  • How to square off the finished block and how to remove the Foundation Paper  How to sew the blocks together to complete their quilt top 
  • BONUS: Demo on several ways to quilt your project 
  • BONUS: How to create a Faux Flange Binding which can be sewn on completely by machine. 

Before Class

1. Ability to sew a straight line.
2. Purchase CD pattern from store listed in the supply list & read content in Folder called READ THIS FIRST. It is NOT necessary to print out instructions OR foundation patterns OR templates. They will be provided to each student. If you have never done foundation paper piecing, you will find the process VERY easy to learn resulting in beautiful, accurate piecing.

The students may choose to make any of the following projects as follows:

A Table Topper with 4 blocks – finished size approximately 19.5” square
A Table Runner with 4 blocks – finished size approximately 18” x 56”
Optional: A Pillow Front with either 1 or 4 blocks – finished size is designed for a 20” pillow insert

Supplies Needed: 
 
Sewing machine in good working order – with cords and foot pedal.
Basic sewing kit
Small cutting mat (instructor will bring a large mat to share)
Cutting Rulers (the instructor will bring some for borrowing)
Rotary Cutter and a new blade
Scissors for fabric and paper, thread snips
Size 70 or 80 machine needles 
50 Weight Thread for piecing to match background color or lightest color fabric. Aurifil offers this weight thread.
Thread for Top Stitch Quilting
Ruler gauge
Heat resistant portable ironing map (optional) 
Portable iron (optional)
Extension Cord (optional)
CD Pattern called AQG 40th Anniversary Quilt Patterns & More (available i=at Mulqueens)

1 1/8 yard background fabric 
¼ yard for leaves
¼ yard for flower blooms
3/8 yard for border 
Flange border: purchase extra yardage for binding and flange in colors of your choice – approx ¼ yard of each color Page 2 (continued)

Class & Club Policies 

Class and/or Club fees are required at the time of registration. Reservations will only be accepted at time of full payment. If you need to cancel a class, we must be notified a minimum of five (5) days in advance of the class. At five days, we guarantee the attendance to the teacher so she can prepare for the class. There will be no class refunds or credits given after that time period. We reserve the right to cancel a class if we do not have the minimum number of students the teacher requires. If that happens, a full refund or credit will be given. Please read over the supply list for the class completely to see what preparations or special products are needed for the class. Purchase your supplies prior to the class unless the supply list indicates differently.
